Service Description
💜 Grief & Growth Through Art: A 3-Week Journey for Tweens A creative small-group space to express, connect & grow. This 3-week small group is designed for tweens ages 10–14 who have experienced the loss of a parent or guardian. Together, we’ll create a compassionate, heart-centered space where participants can gently explore and express grief through art, mindfulness, journaling & connection;alongside peers who may understand parts of what they’re going through. Keeping the group intentionally small creates opportunities for meaningful connection, shared experiences and a sense of belonging, while allowing each participant the space to express themselves in their own way and at their own pace. Each week, guided by Dianne Furphy, MS – Emotional Wellness Life & Mindfulness Coach | Master’s Degree in Art Therapy, participants will engage in hands-on creative activities, mindfulness practices and guided reflections. There is no pressure to find the “right” words: art and creativity can offer another way to express what may be difficult to say. Through these sessions, tweens will: 🎨 Explore healthy ways to express feelings such as sadness, anger, confusion & love. 💭 Build greater awareness and understanding of their emotions. 🌈 Discover tools for comfort, calm, self-care & emotional expression. 🤝 Connect with peers who have experienced a similar type of loss. 💜 Build a sense of belonging and feel seen, heard & supported. 🌱 Explore personal strengths, resilience & continued growth. 💜 Because grief can feel isolating but no young person should have to feel alone in it. WHEN: Saturdays, October 3rd, 10th, 17th TIME: 1:00PM-2:30PM 💜 SPONSORED BY Rock for DOC: https://www.rockfordoc.org/ This program: valued at $195 per participant, is fully sponsored, so all you have to do is sign up!
