Service Description

Our youth will benefit with hands-on experience to construct a building from the ground up using basic construction materials. True learning is accomplished from doing, asking questions, and working through challenges. So we invite you to allow your youth to obtain this hands-on experience with our Engineering & Construction Basics Workshop. This program will provide students with an opportunity to understand basic engineering concepts and construction techniques by building a miniature structure. They will learn the sequence of construction, encounter challenges and use their ingenuity to resolve these construction challenges. We will start by setting the building foundation, installing beams and columns, followed by laying out wood studs to connect interior and exterior walls. We finish the project by exploring the student's artistic creativity by using mixed art mediums to add the final touches to the building. The students will walk out of the workshop with a newfound understanding and confidence with engineering, construction and art. FOR: ages 10 - 13 DATES: Wednesdays 10/2, 10/9, 10/16, 10/23 TIME: 1:30PM-2:30PM LOCATION: 1501 Lower State Road, North Wales PA 19454, Building C, 2nd FL PRICE: $235 pp for the total of 4 weeks IMPORTANT NOTE: Week 4 may take a little longer than an hour for this class depending on the individual and how detailed they would like to create the house using art materials. I would suggest for the teen to be picked up at 3PM on the 4th week. ***THIS IS A DROP-OFF WORKSHOP!*** This class is facilitated by Brian Fitzhenry, PE, a licensed engineer of 20+ years and Dianne Furphy, MS, an artist, art therapist and life coach. No student will be denied admission on the basis of race, color, gender or ethnic origin. However, Kreate What U Want reserves the right to refuse enrollment to participants with a history of disruptive behavior or for any impediment to the learning process of the group as a whole.
